When Olympia ( aka Pining ) Mercado Ferrer decided to visit her sister in Vancouver in late March , she did not plan on staying till December . Summer was great for her . It was warm and she was able to see most of Vancouver's finest sceneries with her classmates residing in Vancouver ( as well as from California ) and her siblings Fe and her husband ( from Germany ) and Perla ..
As days passed , Pining was becoming homesick . And of course , the temperature was dipping . However , since she is already here , she thought she might just stay to experience a white Christmas .
As the days was rolling by , her sister Perla was planning on giving a party for her December 17th birthday . It was supposed to be a surprise party but due to circumstances beyond her control , Perla had to tell her sister about the party . That was great because Pining ended up cooking her special recipes . Invitees were her former classmates at the STHS , Venus (Jimenez ) and hubby Ruben Dioquino , Marie Aquino and spouse Remo Gambioli and friends Rusty Cervas and better half Briggy Miraflor , Dominga and hubby David Yalong . Perla and husband Tony Garampil prepared most of the food and hosted the party at their home .

Being a STHS Class '59ers , Olympia got a cake from the '59ers .
Pining with all the putahes prepared by Perla and Tony with her help , too . With Christmas just around the corner , turkey was the "center piece ".

Time to partake of the Ube-Pandan birthday cake of Oly as Rusty , Marie and Venus watched the celebrant slicing the yummy cake .
After a hearty meal and lots of good time , it was time to " sempet abong ". Venus and Ruben were the first couple to leave . Oly and Tony were bidding "good night " to the couple . Thanks for a great food and great company ! HAPPY BIRTHDAY , OLY ! ! !
