Today , October 12 th is a very important day for Canadians . It is Thanksgiving Day . It is a holiday to give thanks for the blessing in one's life , specially the harvest . It is a day to count our blessings . It is a day off work for many Canadians .
The Thanksgiving weekend is also a special time to take a short autumn holiday . It may be the last chance for some people to use their cottages or holiday homes before winter sets in .
As in most North American homes , Thanksgiving Day is always a turkey dinner . Many Filipinos still go for the traditional Filipino dishes , substituting chicken for the traditional turkey ...
Whether it is turkey or chicken served , Thanksgiving Day is a day we give thanks to our Lord for the blessings we receive everyday .
Let us take this opportunity to thank Our Lord for the safety of our relatives and friends during the recent great flood in Mangaldan . There is so much devastation and loss of properties in the town but with the concerted efforts of our government ( and its agencies ) , generous people in town and the helping hands of Mangaldanians living abroad , Mangaldan will be rebuilt . Mangaldanians are resilient people and they will recover . Let us pray for a faster rebuilding of Mangaldan and a quicker recovery of the townspeople .
