Just about a decade ago, when one loses contact with a friend, it was almost impossible to locate the person. Nowadays, with the technology of connectedness brought about by the massive interconnection of servers worldwide, reestablishing contact with a friend is just a matter of patience, surfing the possible sites where a friend's name may suddenly appear.
Such is the case with Dante Bautista from Poblacion, Mangaldan, a former student (17 years ago) of mine in the Psychology program at the Lyceum Northwestern-Dagupan City. Ever since he landed at Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, in 2003, he had not stopped asking friends and relatives back home how to reach me. He got married last year to Marlyn Catudio and are expecting their first baby by early spring this year.
Dante finally found me because of Aliguas Mangaldan. A story that I have seen happen many times to our Kabaleyans has finally visited upon me. He invited me to seal a friendship forever, "Could you be our wedding Ninong (after the fact)?" How could I refuse. Dante, "I am most honored by the invitation, and I accept."
According to Dante, there is a sizeable group of Mangaldanians in DFW. He is now getting in touch with them and will try to bring them into Aliguas Mangaldan. Dante will be the contact point for the Mangaldan-DFW Group.
Welcome, Dante and Marlyn!
