The Mangaldan Association of Northern California ( MAONCA ) has just lost one of it's most civic-minded and most generous member . He was not just a member , in fact , Don Manuel Lalatag de Vera was a former President of MAONCA , in the year 1992-1993 and remained active and supportive to the association after his term . He initiated the drafting and adaptation of the first constitution and by-laws of the association .
Don Manuel's generosity was felt by many , specially new arrivals from the Philippines , particularly Mangaldanians . He opened his heart and home to countless kabaleyans .
Don Manuel was also a former member of the Mangaldan ( Pangasinan ) Municipal Council ( now known as Sangguniang Bayan ) . His heart had always belonged to his hometown of Mangaldan .
He is survived by his wife of 36 years , Marilyn , his children Veralyn , Manuel Jr. and Felix ; his brother Ernesto , sister-in-law Letty , nieces Lenie and Lorelei ; and his adoptive sister Evelyn ( also known as Remy ) . Visitations and viewing will be on June 5th and 6th , 2009 from 4:00 p.m to 9:00 p.m. at the Cypress Lawn Funeral Homes at 1370 Camino Real , Colma , California .
The body will be flown to the Philippines where he will be laid to rest at his beloved hometown , Mangaldan .
Let us remember Don Manuel Lalatag de Vera in our prayers .
The Mangaldanians of Vancouver , British Columbia , extend their sympathies to the family of Don Manuel . " Eternal rest give unto him , O Lord and let thy perpetual light shine upon him . May he rest in peace ."
The Gutierrez Family convey our Condolences and sympathy to de Vera's Family, our prayers goes with you, in this time of grief and sorrow.
