MIO , HAPPY 1st ANNIVERSARY

Time does  fly ! It  was  a  year  ago  that  Mangaldanians   gathered  in  Las  Vegas  to  celebrate  their  First  Grand  Reunion . It  was  such  an  emotional  gathering  for  many  of  our  kabaleyans . It  was  a  four-day  celebration  : October 22nd- Grand  Canyon  Trip , October 23rd-Welcome  Night , October 24th - Gala Night , October 25th -Picnic in  the  Park . Words  could  not  express  what  all  of  the  attendees  were  feeling   in  those  moments . Almost  500  Mangaldanians  from  different  parts  of  the  world   made  the  effort  to  attend   the  events . Some  even  stayed  longer  in  Las  Vegas  after  the  reunion .

The  biggest  delegation  was  from  California , followed  by  New  York/New  Jersey  area  and  many  other  American  states  including  Hawaii  and  Guam . Mangaldan  Canadians  from  Vancouver , Toronto  and  other  Canadian  cities   made  it  to  Las  Vegas .

Relatives  reconnected  and  old  friendships  were  renewed  . New  friendships  emerged . The  reunion  was  a  moment  to  remember ! There  were  such  beautiful  moments . To  some , the  four  days  were  not  enough  but  as  everything  else , we  had  to  say  goodbye  to  our  former  kabaleyans , relatives  and  friends . Parting  was   such  a  bitter-sweet  memory . A  reminder  of  those  special  days  were  captured  in  these  photos .

The  above  picture  was  taken  during  the  Picnic  at  the  Park , the  culminating  activity  of  the  Grand  Reunion . Enthusiastic  crowd  showed  it's  support  for  the  next  MIO  GRAND  REUNION . 

Originally , the  plan  was  to  hold  the  next  Grand  Reunion  in  October 2011 , however , a  clamor  for  a  later  date  was  taken  into  consideration . The  new  plan  is  to  hold  it  in  October 2012 , two  years  from  now . Please  give  your  comments  or  input  and  address  them  to  Dr. Amor  Lomibao , the  incoming  Executive  Chairperson  for  the  next  Grand  Reunion . We  look  forward  to  seeing  you  all  again .....

The  1st  Grand  Reunion   was  not  only  a  success  socially  but  it  also  spearheaded  a  fundraising  effort   to  help  our  kabaleyans.. A  NEW  LIBRARY  WAS  BUILT  BY  THE  MUNICIPALITY  AND  MIO  FUNDED  THE  10  COMPUTERS  AND  THEIR  ACCESSORIES  HOUSED  IN  THE  LIBRARY . PLEASE  VISIT  THE  NEW  LIBRARY   AND  THE  COMPUTERS  THE  NEXT  TIME  YOU  VISIT  MANGALDAN .YOU  CAN  ALSO  VIEW  THE  VIDEO  OF  THE   MIO  INET -INSTALLED  COMPUTERS  POSTED  EARLIER....

Once again , thanks  to  the   efforts   of  the  two  executive  Chairpersons , BOY  MOULIC  and  MARIE  AQUINO  JUNIO   and  the  following  chairpersons , DITAS  PALISOC  SARZABA , JOSIE  and  JOEY  TUMANENG , RUSTY  CERVAS  MIRAFLOR , DJOMA  DE  GUZMAN  and  all  the  COORDINATORS  and  VOLUNTEERS.   Thanks  to  all  of  you  KABALEYANS  who  attended  the  events  . Without  your  presence , the  Grand  Reunion   could  not  have  happened .    
 


      

WELCOME TO MIO'S NEW EXECUTIVE CHAIRPERSON

   

It  is  with  great  pleasure  that   Boy  Moulic  and  I  announce  the  new  Executive  Chairperson  of  the  Mangaldan  International  Organization .

Dr. Amor Carbonel  Lomibao  will  be  the  incoming  Executive  Chairperson  for  the  2nd   Grand  Reunion  of  MIO . Amor  is  married  to  the  former  Diana  Cendana  of  Mangaldan , Pangasinan . They  have  three  children , Janice  and  Alvin who  are  university  graduates  and  Austin   who  is  still  in  school (  university ) .

     
 

The  Lomibaos  are  long  time  residents  of  Canton , Connecticut  where  Amor  established his  Internal  Medicine  practice  . He  is  an  active  staff  at  the Charlotte  Hungerford Hospital  in  Torrington  , a  Regional  Medical  Director  of  Northwest  Developmental Services  and  a  Medical  Director   of  three  nursing  homes  . Inspite  of  his  busy  schedule , he  maintains  the  medical  mission  in  Mangaldan  every  two  years  . He  launced  a  Diabetes  Clinic   in  our  town  which  has  been  his  dream  of  helping  Mangaldanians .  He  was  able  to  bring  glucometers  and  strips  on  his  latest  mission .

Last  October  2009  , the  First   Grand  Reunion  of  the  newly  formed  Mangaldan  International   Organization  took  place  .  The  response  of  Mangaldanians  was  almost  phenomenal . Mangaldanians  enjoyed  the  camaraderie  and  the  reconnection  during  the  five-day  reunion . Financially  , the  event  was  quite  successful  . The  $10,000.00  that  MIO  pledged  for  the   town  of  Mangaldan  became  a  reality  . It  was  decided  by  the  officers  that  the  amount  be  earmarked  for  computers  and  the  accessories  in  the  town  library  .  The  realization  of  that  dream  came  about  on  June 12 , 2010  . The  new  library   including  the  computer  room  was  inaugurated  and   blessed  . The   computer  room  is  now   known  as  the  I-Net  room .. Recent  news  is  the  I-net  is  attracting  many  users , specially  students  from  the  different  schools .  I  envision  a  continuity  of  our  first  project .

Silverio or  Boy ( Moulic )  and  I  shared  the  responsibility  of  being  the  Executive Chairpersons   during  the  First  Grand   Reunion . We  remain  grateful  to  the  three  Chairpersons , Ditas  P. Sarzaba , Josie  A . Tumaneng   and  Rusty  C. Miraflor  who  have  done  a  tremendous  job  in  their  expertise  and  to  Djoma  De  Guzman  for  creating  the  " Grand  Reunion  in  Las  Vegas "  page  in  Aliguas  Mangaldan . We  are  very  grateful , too , to  the  different  coordinators  in  the  different  regions   and  to  all  the  volunteers  and  donors  during  the  event  in  Las  Vegas . Without  the  presence  and  cooperation  of  our  kabaleyans  during  our  First  Grand  Reunion  in  Las  Vegas  , we  would  not  have  achieved  our  goal  .   THANK  YOU  ! THANK  YOU ! THANK  YOU !  

Boy  and  I  will  remain  active  in   MIO  as  Advisers  . We  will  support  Amor  and  the  incoming  officers  of   MIO   in  their  plans . We  urged  our  kabaleyans  to  continue  supporting  MIO  and  the  officers . For  those  who   want  to  give  back  to  their  roots  by  being  active  in  this  2nd  Grand  Reunion  , please  feel  free  to  contact  Amor  .

MIO-sponsored INET Inaugurated in the new Mangaldan Public LIbrary

Mangaldan International Organization (MIO), a recently organized association of Mangaldanians living abroad recently donated 10 sets of internet-enabled computers to the new Mangaldan Public Library. The money sent by MIO was generated from donations received during the 2009 Las , USA Grand Reunion of Mangaldanians.
