Yes! The President of the Republic of the Philippines. Well, almost. The President must really be a busy person she didn't have time to eat. Or maybe, she has outgrown the taste of the food served at the palace. I might as well invite her to my mom's place for dinner when she's not that busy anymore.
The Malacanang reception honoring the NAT achievers early this month was a first of many things. For one, this was the first time that the President of the republic actually handed out the award in person. And it was my first time to experience a time space warp within the august walls of the Mabini Hall in the Palace, among other things.
My first personal experience of such an encounter gave me a rather grand awareness of the Philippine presidency. It definetely is larger than the man, or woman in this case, who occupies the position. It evokes awe and splendor for this two-eyed earthling. More than anything, it fills the ordinary with enchantment, as beauty is to the eyes.
By the way, the encounter was occasioned by the fact that Mangaldan Central School registered a mean percentage score of 80.61 which landed MCS at top 5 all over the country. Read: Mangaldan Central School National Awardee! Now, and FYI, this is not the first time that MCS was given national recognition.
Once again, Mangaldan is celebrating the commitment and collectivity of parents, teachers, and local community behind the education of children, without which, this noble achievement would not have been possible.
How about we make this an annual engagement with the President?
