President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo honored in Malacañang the Mangaldan Central School (MCS) for landing fifth overall in Cluster I (schools with 400 and up examinees) in the entire Philippines, in fitting ceremonies.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo handing the Certificate of Achievement and Recognition over to Atty. Armando M. Aquino (partly hidden), the SDS of Pangasinan II, and Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS. Looking on is Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus.
Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS, together with Atty. Armando M. Aquino, the Schools Division Superintendent of Pangasinan II, led the group of teachers to receive the much richly deserved national award. With her are Mrs. Felicisima T. Peña, the Assistant Principal; Mrs. Candida E. Eucapor, the Grade Six Administrative Assistant; Mrs. Angelita V. Ubaldo, the President of the Mangaldan Central School Teachers Club, Mrs. Anna Marie B. Cera-Palma, the Vice President; Mrs. Delilah A. Soco and Mr. Macario P. Reasonda, both officers.
President GMA, assisted by Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus, personally handed the Certificate of Achievement and Recognition to Dr. Cera and Atty. Aquino. With the award came a Twenty Thousand-Peso cash gift. This turned up to be a timely supplement to the MCS Feeding Program particularly addressing First Grade pupils.
The National Achievement Test (NAT) conducted by the Department of Education among some 1.6 million grade six students showed a marked over-all improved performance in all subject areas with 59.94 rating, registering a 5.28 percent increase in mean percentage score (MPS) which is well above target. Mangaldan Central School logged an MPS of 80.61
NAT is conducted annually to determine what grade six students from the public schools know, understand and can do. It covered Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino, and HEKASI.
The NAT seeks to determine the competencies acquired by students under the Regular and Bridge Programs. The examination is meant to monitor the mastery level and performance of the students in all subject areas. Scores of 75 and above are considered on the mastery level, 50-75 near mastery, and under 50 is below mastery.

Congratulations to MCS and to you , Tita and Armando and to the members of the faculty . As I was reading this article I could not help but reminisce the time I was once upon a time a student there . It was a good memory and our teachers were great then and they are great now . I guess it is time that a recognition and an award in the National level be bestowed upon our Alma Mater .
Looking at Armando Aquino's name and picture also brought memories of my teaching years with him at Luzon University . He has done quite well , being a Superintendent of Schools in Pangasinan . Well done , Armando . Your hard work and your dedication to your job has brought you to what you have aspired to be . The same goes to you , Tita . You are doing great and so are the members of the faculty ! ! ! Again , Congratulations ! ! I am so proud to be an alumna of MCS .

Dear Rustica and Jeane,
It's wonderful to be hearing from two class valedictorians (though years apart) of the Mangaldan Central School. You yourselves are alumni to be emulated by our pupils at this time. You reflect the kind of education we do our best to give our young wards. Any achievement you have is an achievement of the MCS. Do visit your alma mater sometime. Regards.

This is GREAT....it truly is delightful to read about this accomplishment of our elementary pupils at the Central School.
Congratulations to Dr. Teresita Cera for her outstanding leadership, to the dedicated teachers who must have provided a challenging yet possibly fun learning environment for the children; and, of course, to the pupils themselves who put their best efforts.
This award and recognition replicates the quality of learning we enjoyed as pupils in the 50's,60's and 70's. It is one good reason to support the public school system .

Congratulations to the Principal Dr. Teresita Cera and of course the rest of the staff of MCS for a job well done! I'm really proud that I graduated from said school and I even let my co-workers here in LA read this article . I told them that the principal is my English teacher when I was in grade 6 and that she is one of the best teachers that MCS ever had.Best regards to all!

Dear Fr. Pal,
The MCS staff and students will try to be worthy of your very kind words. By the way, your mom and I, together with Mrs. Au Cendaña had a long chat one rainy morning when she came home for a short vacation. We enjoyed reminiscing over old times when she was still teaching in the MCS. I also met your uncle Msgr. OA. He co-celebrated a Sunday mass with our parish priest where I was the lector.
Give my regards to our friends in New York especially Bella.

Nelia, I hope you can read this. You wrote some comments on an earlier article on the MCS here at Aliguas. I meant to write you, too, but wasn't able to do so because of too many concerns here in the school.Thank you for keeping yur Mother School in high esteem. I'm always happy to hear from my former students. Keep in touch!

Thank you for your kind words. You're right. We are obliged to prepare our young wards for a good future.
Thirty-two years after your graduation is quite a long time. When was the last time you visited your alma mater? You will be surprised to find a lot of changes. You might want to drop by when you come home for vacation.
