Early this school year , two of the Biala sisters , Mrs. Perla Biala Cruz and Mrs. Anne Biala De Guzman of California , USA , made invaluable and timely contribution to the Mangaldan Central School.
This picture shows some MCS pupils and teachers who are the recipient of the gift of Anne and Perla , posed with the Encyclopedia Britannica and school supplies ..
The Mangaldan Central School ( teachers and students )would like to thank Mrs. Perla Biala Cruz of San Francisco , California for donating three sets of Encyclopedia Britannica . The books were sent via door-to -door transport . This is a very timely opportunity because the school lost 60% of its reference materials due to typhoon Cosme . On the other hand , Mrs. Anne Biala De Guzman , a sister of Perla , gave school supplies ( crayons , pens , glue, and scissors ) to the indigent pupils . Some of these school materials are being given to the pupils who score high in the spelling test which the principal gives whenever she goes around the classrooms . Aside from these school supplies is a cash of $ 100 . This will be allocated to the poor but deserving pupils who would represent the school in various competitions . It will be used to cover their miscellaneous expenses like transportation , registration , etc.
"Thank you Perla and Anne ! ! We are more inspired to teach because there are people like you who never fail to show support " ....( From MCS teachers )

In our lifetime, there comes a point when we feel nostalgic so we make a sentimental journey to the past... We feel the urge to reconnect to the people we have worked, laughed, cried and dreamed with in our more active years.
While still residing in the United States, Mrs. Filomena T. Palisoc felt such compulsion especially when she was thinking of coming home longer than her usual vacation. So, together with her friends Norma T. Ramat in California and Mrs. Milagros A. Quinto in the Philippines, they called up their friends and contemporaries and expressed their sentiments. To their delight, the people they called up were equally enthusiastic.
One beautiful day in March, these MCS retirees met at the MCS Social Hall to reminisce over their joyous years as teachers. They prayed, they danced, they sang and they partook of delicious food. It was wonderful to return to the school of their youth and middle age.
Name your teacher...
Fr. Mario Morales and Fr. Jerry Cera, both MCS alumni, preside over the thanksgiving mass.

Singing together....
Passing the bouquet. How serious can you get?
The eldest in the group, Mrs. Anna B. Biala and Mrs. Felicidad F. Arenas steal the show. Greeting them are Mrs. Siberata U. Tirante and Mrs. Purificacion Cendana (partly hidden).

Yes! The President of the Republic of the Philippines. Well, almost. The President must really be a busy person she didn't have time to eat. Or maybe, she has outgrown the taste of the food served at the palace. I might as well invite her to my mom's place for dinner when she's not that busy anymore.
The Malacanang reception honoring the NAT achievers early this month was a first of many things. For one, this was the first time that the President of the republic actually handed out the award in person. And it was my first time to experience a time space warp within the august walls of the Mabini Hall in the Palace, among other things.
My first personal experience of such an encounter gave me a rather grand awareness of the Philippine presidency. It definetely is larger than the man, or woman in this case, who occupies the position. It evokes awe and splendor for this two-eyed earthling. More than anything, it fills the ordinary with enchantment, as beauty is to the eyes.
By the way, the encounter was occasioned by the fact that Mangaldan Central School registered a mean percentage score of 80.61 which landed MCS at top 5 all over the country. Read: Mangaldan Central School National Awardee! Now, and FYI, this is not the first time that MCS was given national recognition.
Once again, Mangaldan is celebrating the commitment and collectivity of parents, teachers, and local community behind the education of children, without which, this noble achievement would not have been possible.
How about we make this an annual engagement with the President?

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo honored in Malacañang the Mangaldan Central School (MCS) for landing fifth overall in Cluster I (schools with 400 and up examinees) in the entire Philippines, in fitting ceremonies.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo handing the Certificate of Achievement and Recognition over to Atty. Armando M. Aquino (partly hidden), the SDS of Pangasinan II, and Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS. Looking on is Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus.
Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS, together with Atty. Armando M. Aquino, the Schools Division Superintendent of Pangasinan II, led the group of teachers to receive the much richly deserved national award. With her are Mrs. Felicisima T. Peña, the Assistant Principal; Mrs. Candida E. Eucapor, the Grade Six Administrative Assistant; Mrs. Angelita V. Ubaldo, the President of the Mangaldan Central School Teachers Club, Mrs. Anna Marie B. Cera-Palma, the Vice President; Mrs. Delilah A. Soco and Mr. Macario P. Reasonda, both officers.
President GMA, assisted by Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus, personally handed the Certificate of Achievement and Recognition to Dr. Cera and Atty. Aquino. With the award came a Twenty Thousand-Peso cash gift. This turned up to be a timely supplement to the MCS Feeding Program particularly addressing First Grade pupils.
The National Achievement Test (NAT) conducted by the Department of Education among some 1.6 million grade six students showed a marked over-all improved performance in all subject areas with 59.94 rating, registering a 5.28 percent increase in mean percentage score (MPS) which is well above target. Mangaldan Central School logged an MPS of 80.61
NAT is conducted annually to determine what grade six students from the public schools know, understand and can do. It covered Mathematics, English, Science, Filipino, and HEKASI.
The NAT seeks to determine the competencies acquired by students under the Regular and Bridge Programs. The examination is meant to monitor the mastery level and performance of the students in all subject areas. Scores of 75 and above are considered on the mastery level, 50-75 near mastery, and under 50 is below mastery.

"My first job was to teach in the seminary. I talked to my class for ninety minutes straight. After that my jaw ached so much and my throat dried out. That experience brought me a greater respect to my teachers."
These were the words of Councilor Atty. Joseph Emmanuel B. Cera, the Guest of Honor and Speaker at the Reception of the Promoted School Officials and Retirees, and at the same time, the inducting officer of the Mangaldan Central School Teachers Club (MCSTC) last July 27, 2007 at the Old Gabaldon Hall, Mangaldan central School.
Councilor Atty. Joseph Cera (far right) inducts the new MCSTC Officers led by President Angelita V. Ubaldo (center).
Cera is the newly appointed Chairman of the Committee on Education. During his campaign, he never failed to include the fact that most of his relatives were teachers.
At the reception, he paid tribute to the two promoted officials, Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS, a.k.a. his auntie, and Dr. Minerva D. Serafica, Principal I of Buenlag Elementary School.
Likewise, he gave much admiration and esteem to the retirees, Mrs. Lolita E. Ventura, the former principal of MCS, Mr. Alfredo T. Cantano, Mrs. Aurora R. Santos, Mrs. Lourdes T. Abad and, Mrs. teresita P. Clarin.
Among those present during the affair were Mr. benjamin Q. Limon, District Supervisor of Mangaldan I, who came in spite of and fighting off a slight fever, the different school heads; a number of retirees; and the whole teaching force of MCS.
After the MCSTC Officers took their oath of office, Cera reiterated his devotion to exert everything in his power in whatever help he could extend to the school community. He ended his speech with a popular text message that goes, "d2 lang me."
All of us are angels with only one wing and we can fly when we embrace each other. With the renewed commitment of the municipality of Mangaldan to the education sector, we will surely soar to greater heights!
Below is the list of MCSTC Officers who will be serving a two-year term.

Five brand new TV sets and five brand new DVD players were donated to the Mangaldan Central School by officers of Biskeg Pangasinan Friendship, Cultural and Aid Association. This is an association of Pangasinenses based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. It has been a tradition within the group that whoever is held as president for the year gets to initiate a sponsorship project for his or her hometown. The president, Mr. Gerardo Palisoc, is from Mangaldan and it follows that the pet project for the year redounds to Mangaldan, specifically to MCS where Mr. Palisoc is an alumnus.
Photo shows the members of the Biskeg Pangasinan Friendship, Cultural and Aid Association of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. From L-R, first row: Perry Ambrose, Amante Agbulos, Jesse Papilla. Second row: Guillermo Ambrose, Jr., Marilyn Anderson, Juanito Serrano, Councilor Mike Nickel, Gerardo Palisoc, Araceli Pasalo, Dyianna Devilla. Third row: Greg Mejia, Rolando (Bong) Biala, Randy Patague, Dindo Lucero, William Angeles, Gil Pasalo, Edmund Acosto and, Joselito (Jojo) Quinto.
The TV sets and DVDs were turned over by Mr. Julio "Bong" Tamondong, a first cousin of Mr. Palisoc, to the officers of the MCS Teachers Club, Parent-Teachers Community Association and admnistrative staff and were distributed to the different grade levels.
This gesture holds a significant promise in the ducation of the young since children at this age tend to be more receptive to inputs that generally appeals to the five senses. Audio visual aids are most helpful in teaching the sciences and similar disciplines.
On behalf of the association, Mr. Julio Tamondong turns over the audio-visual sets to Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of MCS in the presence of MCSTC President Lita Ubaldo, PTCA President Ric Soriano and other teachers.
Mr. Julio Tamondong, the representative of the donor poses with different grade level pupils of Mangaldan Central School.

Madrasah is the Arabic word for any type of school, secular or religious (any religion). In common English usage, "madrasah" is taken to refer to an Islamic religious school.
In a recent regional training held at RELC (Regional Education Learning Center) in San Fernando, La Union, all municipalities that are possible sights for Madrasah gathered in preparation for a full implementation of Madrasah Curriculum as authorized under DepEd Order No. 1, series of 2004 for SY 2006-2007.
Since Mangaldan is in close proximity to Dagupan City where there is a Muslim community, the town is deemed to be one of the possible sights for Madrasah. According to feasibility studies conducted by DepEd, there is a growing Muslim community in Mangaldan. Before, the Muslims here are just transients, now, more and more muslims are going to Mangaldan I Central School. Dr. Teresita G. Cera, Principal III of Mangaldan I Central School was designated by the Division Office to attend said training.
In the interest of national unity and implementation of the 1996 Peace Agreement, Madrasah Education is declared a vital component of the National Educational System. What is Madrasah? A minimum of 15 Muslim pupils, shall be sufficient to open classes in Arabic Language and Islamic Values. For schools with predominant Muslim population, classes shall be conducted in accordance with the normal procedure. For schools with the mized enrolment of Muslims and non-muslims, the Arabic Language and Islamic Values shall be scheduled after classes in the Restructured Basic Education Curriculum (RBEC) subjects of the DepEd, or as may be preferred by the Principal or Head of School. The teachers shall be appointed by the region with the following qualifications:
