The 2 latest projects of the Romero administration, the construction of the Public Plaza Trellis and the renovation of the old Municipal Building, were inaugurated and turned over last April 21 with fitting ceremonies.
In his desire to beautify the Public Plaza to be competitive with other town plazas of the province, Mayor Hermie A. Romero sounded off local residents as well as balikbayans to appeal to them for assistance, to which the response is tremendous, especially from different US balikbayan groups that made possible the earlier construction of the Wishing Well and one Gazebo. The local residents equally responded, like the construction of another gazebo by the Happy Hearts Club, the Children’s Park by the Young Once Club and, of course, the KC Waterfalls & Park, being donated by Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr., the cemented tables and benches by MARETAS and MNHS Class ’56.
The latest addition to the plaza’s eye-catching beauties is, however, the constructed trellises, financed and donated by former councilor Don Marcelino G. Biala and family, being designed and constructed by Ma. Rachel S. Quinto, an architecture graduate. For its inauguration, the whole children from the US of the Biala couple Marcelino and Ana came to attend, they were: Fr. Romeo, Lt. Chaplain of the US Navy, now based in North Carolina; Douglas, a retired US Navy Specialist, and wife Gloria Permison, based in Florida; Anne De Guzman, guest service associate of the Willshire Grand Hotel of Los Angeles, CA; Perla Cruz, an accountant at the Starr Marine Agency in San Francisco, CA; Gloria Garcia, telemetry nurse at the Cabrini Medical Center in New York; Mila Valera, charge nurse in New Jersey, with husband Ali Valera; and Luz Suhr, medical secretary at the Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Jersey. Also in attendance were their grandchildren by Amanda Cera.
The two priests of the Biala family, Fr. Romeo B. Biala and Fr. Jerry B. Cera officiated the blessing and inauguration. A short program, emceed by granddaughter Anna Marie Cera-Palma, was prepared.
The turn-over rite to the municipality was done by grandson Atty. Joseph Emmanuel Biala Cera. Naturally, the ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the marker was performed by the wheel-chaired Don Marcelino and wife Ana of 70 years. With much gratitude from Mayor Romero’s acceptance speech, the occasion was truly joyous.
In the blessing and inauguration of the renovated old Municipal Building, it was grander with the presence of Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr. who was the Guest of Honor & Sponsor. Other government agencies like the PCSO also helped in the funding, with counterpart from the municipality. With its restoration, this old Municipal Building can relive history of the municipal government. It is viewed a wise idea by the Romero administration for the present generation to be able to look back at the history of their town. This now houses principally the Office of the Mayor and other offices closely catering to the needs of the Mayor and his staff.
More improvement and more power!
