DAY TWO

Picture above shows the Program on Friday which was designated as the Welcome Night , Registration Night and the Fellowship Night .
It was the night that Mangaldanians who have paid for the reunion fees were supposed to get their tickets and name tags and join in the fellowship program . Many turned out to meet families and friends . Many late payees were accomodated . Souvenir Journals were distributed to donors ( or advertisers ) and sold to the rest . Official MIO T-shirts were also sold . Net proceeds for the Souvenir Journals and T-shirts are earmarked for the FLOOD VICTIMS in Mangaldan .
Special speaker for the night was Mangaldan Councilor Teresa ,( aka Baby ) Abalos , who delivered a very impressive speech in English as well as in perfect Pangasinan . Her speech left listeners in awe of her knowledge and deep concern for Mangaldan and the townspeople . She made us realized that we , who are living abroad , are very lucky and that we should not take for granted our better situation right where we are . Philip Fabia did the honor of intoducing Baby to the audience before her speech . Philip was a former Councilor of Mangaldan and now resides in Vancouver . Thanks , Philip you did a good job ! !
Another special guest from Mangaldan was the town Treasurer , Susanna Petilla Bauzon . Ret . Gen. Arturo Lomibao ( presently the Assistant Secretary of the Land Transportation Office of The Philippines ) and his wife Jacky graced the occasion with their presence , too.
The excitement and the eagerness of the guests to reconnect with each other was so "electrifying " and almost uncontrollable . It was truly a special night for everybody present . The activities during the Welcome Night were supposed to be informal but organizers for the night decided that a structured program be considered . There had been some slight problems with regards to the registration of names due to the late payees . However , new registrants were still accomodated . There were no assigned seats so it was a first come first served seating . It was a great night inspite of snags here and there . Plenty of finger foods were served and we believed most were not left hungry .
Thank you for being patient and understanding during this night . The most important thing is that everybody had a good time .
Thanks , Rusty for a great job as the Chairperson for the night .

DAY FOUR.................PICNIC IN THE PARK
Today , Sunday , is the culmination of the four-day celebration of the MIO First Grand Reunion .
Our million thanks to the volunteers ; Rolando " Boying " Yap , Mrs. Lily Yden Orap , Rudy and Anna Visperas , Rudy Estrada . Thanks to Rufino and Luz Aquino for opening their doors to Mangaldanians and entertained many of us .
Thank you , too , to the impromptu volunteers in the "food distribution" department . Ditas P. Sarzaba became a lechon specialist , Rusty joined the Toronto ladies in the food center . Thanks to Father Romeo Biala for acting as the "Marshall " with Marie as the traffic controller . The picnic turned out to be very orderly and food was more than enough .
Tia Lily and Tia Anna and the Las Vegas hosts donated a huge cake to celebrate the birth of MIO in Las Vegas . October birthday celebrants were also acknowledged as co- birthdays of MIO . They also prepared prizes for a raffle draw . Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness .
We also thank Consorcia ( Consing ) Aquino Ribu and husband Pepe for the fresh fruits that they brought to the picnic . That was very thoughtful of you ...
Our Las Vegas hosts donated this cake to celebrated the birth of MIO in Las Vegas which also includes the October birthdays of Mangaldanians present during the picnic .

Some Mangaldanians who enjoyed the picnic grounds of the Spring Valley Community Park in Las Vegas ..
The reunion was as successful as we all envisioned it and probably much more than we expected .
This First Global Reunion of Mangaldanians was a year - long preparation . According to some sources , it was first thought of by Dr. Mariano Aquino who is now a resident of New Jersey . The idea remained dormant . Then when Marie and Djoma met in Vancouver , they decided to start a website to cater to Mangaldanians all over the world . They launched the Aliguas Mangaldan website with the goal to reconnect and reunite kabaleyans whereever they are . Truly , their goal came into fruition and Mangaldanians were communicating through their pictures , articles and their comments . It has been three years now since the website was started . Last year when Boy suggested that Mangaldanians should hold a Grand Reunion soon through a comment in Aliguas Mangaldan , Marie and Djoma were all for it .. the almost impossible dream of reuniting Mangaldanians was born . Originally it was supposed to be in 2010 . The Aliguas Mangaldan website would be the communication venue , so by September of last year , Boy , Djoma and Marie decided that the Grand Reunion will be held on October 23-25 , 2009 . It was unanimously decided that Las Vegas be the venue . The Executive committee and the working committee were formed by dedicated men and women . The committees started working together . Boy and Marie were the Executive Committee and Ditas , Josie ( with Joey ) , Djoma and Rusty became the chairpersons of the different committees . The tasks were not easy . Plans were processed , approved and executed through cyberspace . The wonders of the technical world became the tools of this endeavor . It was a much awaited event . Before we realized it , the event came closer and closer . Now it is over . However , the memories will be a very lasting one .
The event we had will be just the beginning . Boy and Marie want this event to continue . Mangaldanians who are interested in working for the continuity of the celebration are most welcome . Mangaldanians residing in cities which are not yet officially represented should start organizing now . Representatives from different regions or cities should be selected soon by their colleagues . Interested parties to represent their regions or domicile must e-mail Boy and Marie making it as an official acceptance and commitment to their roles .
A million thanks to our special guests from the Philippines , our lady Councilor Teresa M. Abalos who was our guest speaker during the Welcome Night , Gen. Arturo Lomibao who was the guest of Honor and Speaker during the Gala Night and his wife Jacky and Mangaldan Town Treasurer Susanna P. Bauzon . Other Philippine residents who came to join the Las Vegas event were Diana Jane S. Abalos , Lita ( Vergara ) and Benny Tan and their two grandsons and Vangie Ramat Singson . Thanks for travelling all the way from our hometown to be with all of us ...
Marie Aquino Junio
A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM Silverio ( Boy ) Moulic , Executive Over All Chairman:
"Inerman agmi ca icaindan, dalin min tinobuan . Diad sikay nanlapuan , sicay pawilan ." Appropriately , this part of our town song , " Logor Ed Baley " spelled the BIG SUCCESS of Mangaldan Organization's First Grand Reunion from October 22 to 25 , 2009 in Las Vegas , Nevada .
Our Souvenir Journal's front cover is graced with the same quote . Guest Speaker and fellow Mangaldanian , General Arturo C. Lomibao opened his inspiring , reflective and informative speech with the same quote. This quote is the answer to why and how we got together in the spirit of Unity and Fellowship .
All 432 townmates , family , friends and guests made it to the Sin City. They all traveled breaking the wide voidness of distance separating all of us to celebrate the true meaning of being a Mangaldanian .
This reunion could not have been possible if the dream of Dr. Mariano Aquino was not verbalized . It was exactly a decade ago when Dr. Marianing , as he is commonly called, asked Joey Tumaneng ( his son -in-law ) and myself to organize a Grand Reunion on a global scale . Had we done it soon after , he would have been a fixture at that reunion . His spirit was so willing to join the First Grand Reunion but his primary doctor advised him otherwise . He would have displayed his dancing prowess , showing off his International Rumba steps . He enjoyed and devoured every page , every information , every face , every message and every activity printed in the Souvenir Journal . To my Tio Marianing , we have indeed realized your dream ; the work has begun and the dream goes on . Thank you so much for your inspiration .
To the Executive and Working Committees , I do not have the eloquence to thank you all for the wonderful job you all have generously performed . I have expressed it in my message ( in the Souvenir Journal ) but let me say it again . I thank you all for unselfishly offering your time , services and resources to help put our reunion together .
I would like to personally thank Marie Aquino Junio , Executive Overall Co-Chairman for her untiring effort to help lead , mould , develop and crown MIO . To Ditas Palisoc-Sarzaba whose MAONCA troupe showed the biggest number of attendees . This could not have been possible if not for your continued urging and encouraging of your members . It was indeed a big GALA Night and you had everything under control . To Rusty Cervas Miraflor , the Welcome and Fellowship Night was indeed a great ice and ground breaker for all . To Djoma de Guzman , thank you for updating and maintaining ALIGUAS MANGALDAN , our source of information from inception to completion and thereafter . To my very good friends , Joey and Josie Aquino Tumaneng . You made me so proud, you made MANYJER stand out . My heartfelt thanks for helping make the 10 year old dream a reality and a BIG SUCCESS !
To everyone , my sincere thanks for your zeal and dedication in endeavoring to have made the First Grand Reunion a moment to cherish and made this occasion an affair to remember . Salamat a balbaleg !
Boy Moulic
